Smart Readers. Ambitious Writers. Unputdownable Books.
VIRAL READS. REAL RECS. SMARTER STORY TALK.
Honest recs for readers. Brilliant editorial insight for fantasy and romantasy writers.
I read the spicy romantasy, the dark thrillers, and the books blowing up your feed, pick them apart for editorial insight, then give you the breakdowns of the books you wish you had before you spent your hard-earned cash. There’s no fake five-star reviewing here, but no author-bashing either. Just smarter takes on what works, what doesn’t, and which books are actually worth your time.
I also write for fantasy and romantasy writers who want better insight on first chapters, story promise, genre positioning, and whether the opening pages are doing the job they need to do.
Honest thoughts from your friendly writer, editor, and fellow reader.
This is the home base for readers who want addictive books & the writers who want to write them.

Hi, I’m Melissa
I’m one of those people who actually reads the books the algorithm keeps shoving at you and then says, “Okay, here’s the deal.” The Gilt List exists for readers who love guilty pleasure books, like spicy romantasy, dark romance, and twisty thrillers, but still care about good writing, emotional payoff, and not wasting money on mid reads.
If you like morally grey characters, big feelings, and a little chaos in your fiction, not your real life, you’ll fit in here just fine.
I’m also here for ambitious writers. That means first chapters, story promise, genre positioning, and all the opening-page stuff that decides whether a reader keeps going or quietly closes the tab and never comes back.
I bring editorial experience to this work. I hold editing certifications through the EFA, and I’ve worked on books including an Amazon bestseller in its niche, so the editorial side of this site is grounded in both reader instinct and actual hands-on experience.
You’ll even find a free reader resource hub with spreadsheets, tools, and bonus extras for people who join the list. Get the free reader resources here
